Dr Evelyn Maniaki DVM MRes CertAVP PgCertVPS MRCVS
Passionate Small Animal Vet with 15 Years of Experience | PhD Candidate: Unlocking the Secrets of Exercise Recovery
I'm Dr. Evelyn Maniaki, a veterinary surgeon with a deep love for small animals and 15 years of experience in both first opinion and referral practices. My focus lies in internal medicine, ensuring the best possible care for your furry companions. While I adore all creatures great and small, I have a particular fondness for our feline friends.
My passion for understanding health and metabolism led me to delve into the realm of research. Now, my research journey has expanded further, exploring exercise recovery in both humans and dogs. I'm currently pursuing a PhD that investigates how our bodies, both furry and not-so-furry, optimally recover after exercise. This exploration allows me to stay at the forefront of knowledge in exercise physiology and metabolism while continuing to provide exceptional patient care.
Dedicated Professional, Lifelong Learner
I thrive in the dual role of veterinarian and researcher. Throughout my MSc and now my PhD, I've maintained a commitment to first opinion practice. For testimonials highlighting my expertise, please check out my testimonials page. I also offer a personalised pet and home sitting service if you are looking for peace of mind while you are away!
Giving Back
I believe in giving back to the community and am passionate about promoting science education and social mobility. I volunteer with the following organizations:
StreetVet: Providing free veterinary treatment to pets of people experiencing homelessness.
Safe and Sound Dorset: aiding vulnerable women who have suffered violence and abuse.
I'm a Scientist: Connecting scientists with students to increase science literacy and promote science communication.
The Social Mobility Foundation: A charity supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve their full potential.

Beyond the Clinic
When I'm not dedicated to veterinary care or research, I find joy in music (singing and piano), the discipline of Wing Chun, and exploring the world through travel and sailing.
